Adulting

Submitted by: Kezia Angelica

Toronto, ON

Imagine you’re living on your own for the first time. The planet is dying, the economy is crumbling and you don’t understand half of what is going on, but you are determined to figure it out no matter how absolutely horrifying it is. That’s the case for Amy and many others entering adulthood right now.

Following 20-something-year-old Amy on her quest to understand and overcome the responsibilities of adulthood, this film explores how her parents survived this and how the changing world is shaping us as we enter this new stage of life. We are exploring the effects that social media, inflation and climate change have had on our mental health as we grow and the seeds of hope and fear that they sow.

Hopefully, through her journey and exploration, we can offer fellow young adults comfort in knowing they are not alone in their anxieties. They may even learn how to ‘adult’ alongside Amy.
